My friend from Japan was visiting so we had a blast. I plan on visiting her in Japan soon! I am praying on it.
My friend happened to be the first Japanese American student at Spelman College from 1993-1997. She is a dear and I am thankful for our years of friendship.
I am very proud of her accomplishments for AKA gave her a platform to work with while she was in college in developing the dynamic woman she is today.
What's the closest thing you have to a time machine?
Submitted by Verisimilitude.
Memories from my past and the library to research life before I was born. I find the music and spoken word media I have in Cd format, cassette tape and vinyl to be an invaluable source of information for me or anyone interested in learning about the past.
Visiting a museum to learn about the past world too is one of the time machine's that I use to know what was life like before my existence.
The best time machine is listening to a senior citizen share their personal stories of what life was like in the past. I am always enlightened!

You know your laptop is dead when you're in the hallway and you can hear things cranking from the living room.
Any day now!
The upside is, yay laptop shopping!
Maybe I can swing a MacBook out of it!
I love a great deal. There are two types of deals. Something expensive that you get for a steal or an awesome copy of an expensive item. I love both of these deals- but let the buyer beware.
This weeks podcast is about this sort of thing. Ebony and I will discuss looking like a million for pennies.
Now to do this is a very tricky thing. You want to do this without looking cheap or tacky. I love to mix and match items. Wear expensive jeans with a tank from Old Navy and shoes from Target. The best thing to do is to read your fashion and style magazines and see what the trends are. The next thing to do is clean out your closet and see what you own. Now you are ready to shop.
This time of year it is a great time to get a bargain. Especially at the expensive boutiques. they have to get rid of the summer inventory and most stores are now offering 25-50% discounts on items. Don't buy to buy. Find great classic pieces like a good pair of white pants or a funky baby doll top that you can dress up anytime of year. You can also find great designer shoes on sale now. Robin said she found an $800 pair of heels for $298. She had to purchase them. I also stocked up on some Juicy terry pants that were marked down about 30%. Those pants do not change each year. When you buy some quality pieces, they will last a long time too. Also if you plan on going on vacation this winter, it is great to find cover ups, shorts and bathing suits now for your trip during the year. If you wait until February- you will pay top dollar.
What about imposter's? Fakes? Imitations? Designer Inspired items? Let the buyer beware. Look at the real deal first. Then you be the judge. I think if you wear a fake bag, fake sun glasses, fake shoes, and fake jewelry- you will look fake. But if you mix and match a few good with a few fake- you will keep them guessing. I love my Ballenciaga inspired bag fromBoutique on Feet. I will wear it with my Tory Birch Shoes and Seven Jeans. I also love my new sandals from Target. I pair this up with designer jeans, a Prada belt and a plain $10 tank top for an adorable outfit. My favorite items from target are their shoes, accessories, jeans and T shirts. Not everything in Target is or for that matter looks great. Be selective. Buy what fits well too.
I also heard Steve and Barry's are going out of business- which is a shame. My Friend Linda and I just bought jeans for $8.98 last weekend. It actually cost more to get the jeans hemmed, then to buy them.
Another place to get a good deal is on the Internet. There are multiple sites that advertise discounts, including free ship on the Internet. Look around for discount codes before you click the order button. You will be surprised on what you can find.
At Loose Lips New York- We always come up with a weekly special. This weeks special should not disappoint. Buy our Collage Powder and Kabuki Brush together for only $25. You will save $11. That is huge. Also check out our sale page too. Usually big discounts there too. Most web stores have a sale page. Great place to find really great deals.
Hope you can join us on the podcast- if not listen after the show for more money saving tips!
